Concerto para Moviola

Artist: Ricardo Bacelar

Release: 2016

Recording on CD and DVD of the concert specially conceived for the Guaramiranga Jazz and Blues Festival, 'Concerto para Moviola' presents a repertoire based on the research done by Ricardo on analog keyboards of the 1970s and 1980s jazz groups, the Brazilian music and the use of the acoustic piano.

The outcome is an excellent mix of the international jazz scene classics, such as 'Birdland' (Joe Zawinul), 'So May It Secretly Begin' (Pat Metheny) and 'March Majestic' (Bob Mintzer), and Brazilian music gems, such as 'Sabiá' (Chico Buarque/Tom Jobim), Palhaço' (Egberto Gismonti/ Geraldo Carneiro), 'Água de beber' (Tom Jobim/ Vinicius de Moraes), 'Setembro' (Ivan Lins/ Vitor Martins/Gilson Peranzzetta) and 'Nanã' (Moacir Santos/ Mario Telles), and Bacelar's inspired themes, such as 'Cordilheira', 'Moviola', 'Enquanto isso, chove. ...' and 'Apartheid blues'.

The album has Ricardo Bacelar (acoustic piano and keyboards) accompanied by Ronaldo Pessoa (guitar) - co-producer of the CD/DVD- Luiz Duarte (drums), Miquéias dos Santos (bass), Marcus Vinicius Cardoso (violin), Maria Helena Lage (keyboards and percussion), Hoto Júnior (percussion), and Márcio Resende (soprano sax, tenor sax, and flute). Gabriel Lage was responsible for the direction and editing of the DVD, which brings the spectator closer by creating an intimate atmosphere, privileging each musician on scene.
