A Água Que Faltou no Céu

Artist: Danilo Caymmi & Ricardo Bacelar

Release: September 17, 2026

Danilo Caymmi and Ricardo Bacelar present “A Água Que Faltou no Céu,” an original single that paves the way for the album Volta Seca – O Compositor do Cangaço. The project revives and reimagines the work of Antônio dos Santos, the legendary Volta Seca, a member of Lampião’s band and the author of songs that have become part of the history of Brazilian popular music.

The album’s only original composition, “A Água Que Faltou no Céu” emerged during an immersive creative process at Jasmin Studio and was written by Danilo Caymmi, Ricardo Bacelar, and Luis Lima Verde. Inspired by the story of a man shaped by drought who had never seen the sea, the song transforms this symbolic encounter between the backlands, water, and memory into music. The voices of Danilo Caymmi and Ricardo Bacelar carry the narrative, while Bacelar also handles the production and arrangements, creating a contemporary interpretation that engages with the sounds of Brazil’s Northeast and the historical and cultural world of the cangaço.

The single is part of an album inspired by the historic 1957 record Cantiga de Lampião, on which Volta Seca himself recorded his songs. The new project revisits this repertoire from a contemporary perspective, including works such as “Mulher Rendeira” and “Acorda Maria Bonita.” “A Água Que Faltou no Céu” is available on all major streaming platforms and is accompanied by a music video directed by Gabriel Lage, available on YouTube, which expands the song’s poetic and narrative universe through images.
